Our Review
We've been to a lot of great luxury hotels and resorts over the years, but we must say that the Inn at Lost Creek is truly one of those unique treasures that you have to experience to fully appreciate. Although the Inn at Lost Creek's awesome location on the mountain is right at the Gondola, it is surprisingly easy to miss.
The Inn is aptly named, since it is a relatively small facility. And of course, this is it's charm. As you can see from the photo, the outside of the property really doesn't do the Inn at Lost Creek justice. Inside, you escape into a whole different world, from the highly attentive staff to the oversized luxury guest rooms (they are really fully equiped condo's), to the comfortable and intimate lobby area. And since it is right at the gondola, you have an easy and free ride down the mountain and right into the village of Telluride. No exuses for either partaking of the varied nightlife in Telluride, or having a quiet romantic night in the luxurious mountain ambience of the Inn. We're not really sure about the Lost Creek part of the name, other than it must be lost, since we couldn't find it!
And trust us on this one, you will not want to miss an encounter with the on-property restaurant, the 9545 Restaurant (named after the elevation!). Our meal there was really exquisite - fresh, delicate, and rightly portioned. Even though Telluride is a bit of a challenge to get to for some people, we promise you will not be dissappointed - either by the area, or by the Inn at Lost Creek. Telluride is in a box valley that has the kind of views most people only associate with Switzerland or the Alps. Whether in winter for skiing, or summer for hikes, fishing, rafting or the myriad of great outdoor activities, you will definitely catch a glimpse of heaven from this wonderful area. Ask for rooms facing toward the valley for the best views (in our opinion).
